Sungubala is a Mountain Camp is situated in the Northern Drakensberg. Sungubala lies on 500ha of pristine wilderness directly below the peaks of Hlolela and Sungubala (7000ft), just north of Royal Natal National Park.

Surrounding the farm is approximately 30 000 to 40 000ha of conserved wilderness and mountain environment, to which we have access. The camp fills the space between the clutter of camping and the hum drum of even the simplest hotel or resort.

Even though there are folk who prefer straight forward camping, there are people who enjoy a hard days hiking and then would like to be able to enjoy a hot shower, an ice cold drink and after dinner settle into a comfortable bed with the peace and quiet of a mountain wilderness around them and experience the feeling of camping, with out the discomfort.

  1. Dear Madam or Sir,
my friend and I will visit the Drakensberg Mountains by the mid of December and would very much like to stay at your beautiful Resort.
We will probably arrive on the 16th of December and will leave on the 19th. Do you still have an available Chalet/room for us? Camping is also good.
Looking Forward to Hearing from you.
Thanks very much and best regards,
    Sarah

  2. We have just returned to civilization after spending 4 amazing days at Sungubala. Such peace, beauty and tranquility at the resort. The staff (Simon and Godfrey) were absolutely amazing, so friendly and helpful, but most of all – trustworthy! Will most certainly recommend Sungubala and definitely will return. Thanks for a lovey holiday!!!
